We are committed to help your balance!
During my 25 years working in Rehabilitation as an Occupational Therapist, I have seen first-hand and treated traumatic injuries -- many of which were sustained as the result of a patient having fallen. As a Yoga Teacher and Studio Owner, I have also heard countless people share their struggles with BALANCE!
Our passion is to assess and strengthen your entire Balance System including fall-risk screening, vestibular assessment, and balance training, to help reduce your risk of falling and enable you to live a safer and more active lifestyle. In addition to my training, education and experience in Occupational Therapy and yoga, I am also trained and certified in vestibular assessment and treatment, as well as specialized balance assessment and training.
People take “Balance” for granted. We need balance to do most everything – to stand, walk, get into and out of a sitting position, to put on clothing (e.g. pants, shoes),dance, stretch and exercise. Having the ability to maintain a steady position can dramatically improve your quality of life and, importantly, also help reduce the risk of injuries. As we age, monitoring, maintaining, and improving your balance is critical to a healthy and safe lifestyle. But balance training is not just for aging adults, it is beneficial for everyone – as it serves to improve the health, balance, and performance of everyone from aging adults to younger people, to young athletes, and advanced athletes. Balance assessment at Sweet Peace Balance LLC is a first important step. A variety of things can impact your balance. We perform specific clinical assessments in order to assess your balance and personalize your treatment. Of course, depending upon the assessment, we may also refer you to a hearing specialist, eye doctor, or physician for additional follow up. In most cases, balance training or certain maneuvers can serve to improve your balance, reduce your risk of falling, and help improve your quality of life.
Balance training at Sweet Peace Balance LLC involves performing generally light, slow, methodical, movements, exercises, and drills, sometimes with and without equipment, under the guidance and instruction of an Occupational Therapist, that help improve your stability and train and strengthen muscles that help keep you upright, including your legs and core. It does not require that you perform any strenuous exercises, nor will you need to run, jump, or do any high-impact or high-intensity training. Balance training can help improve your overall balance, your ability to hold a position for a longer period of time, and reduce the likelihood of falling.
We launched Sweet Peace Balance LLC in January 2024 and are excited to help you improve your balance, safety, and life, and are currently accepting new clients.
